What Buzzy is
Buzzy is a messaging service. A room is a conversation that people join by invitation. Members can be reached inside the Buzzy app or, if they have not installed it, over another channel they already use — including SMS.
There is no public directory and there are no publicly joinable rooms. You are only ever in a room you accepted an invitation to.
Messaging terms
These terms cover text messages sent by Buzzy. They are the terms carriers require us to publish, and they describe exactly what we do.
When we text you
We send you a text in one situation: a person invited you to a room and gave your phone number to do it. That first message names who invited you, names the room, and tells you how to accept and how to stop.
If you accept, we deliver that room's messages to you by text until you leave or opt out. If you do not accept, we do not message you again.
We do not send marketing, promotions, or announcements by text. Ever. If we want to tell you about the product we will do it in the app.
Consent
Consent is given by replying to accept the invitation. Being invited is not consent — it is a request, and we treat it that way. A room's messages will not be delivered to you until you reply.
Consent is never bought, rented, or transferred from anyone else.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies and depends entirely on how active your rooms are. A quiet room may send nothing for weeks. A busy one may send several messages a day. You can leave a room at any time, and you can stop all messages at any time.
Rates
Message and data rates may apply. Buzzy does not charge you for text messages; your mobile carrier may.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message. You will get one confirmation and then nothing further. This works at any point, including on the very first message, and it does not require an account.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Encryption, stated honestly
Messages between people using the Buzzy app are end-to-end encrypted. Messages delivered to you by text are not private — they travel over the carrier network in the clear, we decrypt them in order to hand them over, and carriers can read them. If that matters to you, install the app; the room will switch to encrypted delivery and stop texting you.
Using Buzzy
- You must be 13 or older.
- Only invite people who would want to hear from you. Inviting strangers, or numbers you obtained from a list, is not permitted and will get the account closed.
- Do not use Buzzy to send unlawful, harassing, or deceptive content, and do not use it to send commercial messages of any kind.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, and we will say why.
No warranty
Buzzy is provided as is. We do not guarantee that every message is delivered, that the service is uninterrupted, or that a third-party network we hand a message to behaves. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
Changes
If we change these terms materially we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
